Is the clipboard the problem?

The log has holes,
and nobody wrote what they did.

  • The sheet

The walk-in reads 44°F and the sheet says 38.

  • The worry

What if the inspector reads this?

  • The wish

A log should tell the truth.

You can try a reading in the demo before you sign up for anything.

What does the app do with a reading?

Fix it
before it saves.

Slide the reading past 41. In range, you tap Save. Out of range, it asks what you did to fix it first.

Cold holding must be 41°F or below. Food Code 3-501.16.

But who types all this in?

Type it.
Or say it.

Say something like Walk-in is at 38 and the form fills in. Nothing saves until you tap Save.

  • Readings are typed or spoken, never read from a sensor.
  • Voice uses your phone or browser's speech recognition.
  • You check the number, then tap Save.

Is that only fridges?

Sixteen logs, forty‑three rules,

What temperature should food be received at?

Read the cooling guide

The guide says why the rule exists in plain words.

What happens to a bad reading?

Saved, flagged,
never hidden.

A bad reading is saved and marked out of range in the app's lists. The app does not text anyone. In the inspection binder it prints first, with what was done.

  • The fix is written down before the reading is saved.
  • If nobody wrote a fix, the binder says not recorded. It is never hidden.

Questions

Before you
start.

Do I need a special thermometer or sensors?

No. You type the reading or say it.

What happens if a reading is too warm?

The form says Out of range and asks what you did to fix it before you can save. The reading is saved and flagged, and it shows in the inspection binder with the fix.

Which temperatures does it check?

Cold holding 41°F or below, hot holding 135°F or above (roasts may hold at 130°F), and cooking, cooling and reheating temperatures, with the rule named on each. The rules are from the Utah-adopted 2022 FDA Food Code (Utah Rule R392-100).

Can I say the reading instead of typing?

Yes, with your phone or browser's speech recognition. Nothing is saved until you tap Save.

How long are records kept?

Keep logs and checklists 90 days. Keep pest and commissary logs a year. The app does not delete anything.

Is the log the same on paper and in the app?

The app carries the same rows and adds the limit, the fix, and the time and who did it. You can also take a photo of a paper sheet to get records from it.
