- UtahUtah follows the 2022 FDA Food Code (Utah Admin. Code R392-100).
- NevadaNevada writes its own food code (NAC chapter 446) from the 2009 FDA Food Code. Clark and Washoe counties have their own food regulations.
- CaliforniaCalifornia writes its own food law, the California Retail Food Code (CalCode). Counties and four cities enforce it; some add grades or placards.
- New YorkNew York writes its own food rule (Subpart 14-1 of the State Sanitary Code). County health departments and NYC's Health Department enforce it; some add their own.
- FloridaFlorida's restaurant rules come from the state alone: DBPR follows the 2017 FDA Food Code, and local governments can't add food rules.
- TexasTexas follows the 2017 FDA Food Code (the Texas Food Establishment Rules). Your city or county health department enforces it, or DSHS where there is none.
