What does "Open for food" mean?

A green Yes or a red Not yet tells you if the opening checks are done.

Steps

Turn it green,
in three checks.

Managers and owners see this band at the top of Today.

  1. Open the Today tab.
  2. Read the band. It says Open for food: Yes in green, or "Open for food: Not yet" in red.
  3. If it says Not yet, look at the rows under the band. Each row is a check left to do.
  4. Tap a row. Fill in the short form. Save it.
  5. Do the same for each row. The band turns green when the last one is saved.

What you will see

One line
answers it.

When every opening check is done, the band says Open for food: Yes and All opening checks are done.

Three checks count: the thermometer check, the fridge and freezer temperatures, and the sanitizer test. Nothing else turns the band red.

If it does not look like this

  • A brand-new place sees Your first opening checks instead of a red warning. It says Do these before you serve food. Start with the first one: Start with the first row.
  • You are staff, not a manager? You do not see the band. You see your own checks on Do.
  • A check is stuck on Not yet after you did it? Pull down to refresh, or call or text us.

Good to know

What it does
not lock.

  • It is a plain answer, not a lock. It does not stop the kitchen or the register.
  • One hard stop exists, and it is for staff. A worker who has not checked in, or has not finished required lessons, sees Check in first or Finish your lessons first on the Do screen.

Next: Do your daily checks. See Today and Thermometers and calibration.
