The problem
Why is the shift
so tiring?
- The rules
The 2 pm fridge temperature is late. A new hire is not sure what to do. A worker looks unwell. You are the reminder, all shift.
- The day
Chasing wears you down. You want to keep things moving, and you want to know it is safe.
- The point
The reminder should live in the app, not in you.
Your crew
Who can I
put on the line?
Team says Who's here, who's cleared, and whose paperwork is due.
You see it before you build the line, not after.
- The on-shift list has Call, Text and Remind next to each name. Call and Text open your own phone. Remind leaves a note they see on Today.
- Nag picks who can fix a problem and writes one message for you. It writes at most one per person every 15 or 60 minutes.
- New hires move across a People board, from first sign-in to approved. In California each one gets a food handler card within 30 days of starting, and the employer pays for the course (HSC 113948). In Riverside County it is the county's own certificate, within 7 days. The app keeps the card and its expiry date.
- Managers, admins and owners can approve a new hire, once lessons and signing are done.

A worker is sick
What if someone
cannot work?
You see the answer the rule needs: OK to work
, Cover it first
or No food work today
. You never see the symptom. In California, the person in charge tells the county environmental health office about a diagnosed Salmonella, Shigella, E. coli (STEC), hepatitis A or norovirus. Two or more workers with a stomach illness at once: the same call (HSC 113949.5). The law names no hour count: call right away. The rule is one tap away.
Employee health: report, exclude, restrict
A sick worker stays off the line. The person in charge tells the county environmental health office about a diagnosed Salmonella, Shigella, E. coli (STEC), hepatitis A or norovirus. Two or more workers sick at once: the same call (HSC 113949.5). No hour count: call right away.
CleanCleaver: Health questions before each shift. You see only

orNo food work today

Sign-off
Do the readings get checked,
or only saved?
Review logs shows the day's fridge, cooking and sanitizer readings. You choose one of two answers for each.
Looks good
signs it off and puts it in the binder.Ask them to fix
leaves a private note for the person. Only they see it, when they open the app.Close of day
shows what got done, what is late and who did what.
Your sign-off lands in the binder. Look at the screen first.
The card
What if the owner
holds the card?
Show the owner in two minutes.
Copy this page's link and send it to the owner. Or open the demo yourself. It runs on sample data.
The owner starts the trial. Twenty-five days is long enough for a full week of shifts to prove themselves. Then the day ends like this: the shift ran, and the proof is in the binder.
See the owner view, the person in charge, how it works or how to open a food business in your county. Prefer to talk? Call or text (415) 640-1667.

Questions
Before you
start.
Do I need a manager certificate in California?
Someone does. The law asks for at least one certified owner or employee at each food facility (HSC 113947.1). The certificate comes from an accredited exam. The clock is 60 days: from opening, from a new owner, or from losing the certified person. It lasts 5 years (HSC 113947.3). It is one per facility, not a certified person on every shift. Ask your owner who holds it. The app keeps the certificate on file, and the binder lists it.
Does the app text my crew when they are late?
No. Nag writes the message and you send it from your phone. Remind leaves a note the person sees when they open Today. In a browser, a due reading can alert the people on shift once they say yes when the app asks.
Can I see why a worker cannot work?
No. You see OK to work, Cover it first or No food work today. You never see the answers. The answers are stored with the check-in, and manager screens do not show them.
A cook says he has norovirus. What do I do?
He stays off food. The person in charge tells the county environmental health office (HSC 113949.5); the law names no hour count, so call right away. In Los Angeles County that is the Department of Public Health, Environmental Health, (888) 700-9995. In San Diego County, the Department of Environmental Health and Quality, (858) 505-6900. The county start page names the office for every other county.
A new hire starts Monday. What does she need?
A California Food Handler Card within 30 days of her first day, from an ANSI-accredited course. It lasts 3 years, and the employer pays for the course and her time in it (HSC 113948). In Riverside County it is the county's own certificate, within 7 days, lasting 2 years. San Bernardino and San Diego counties run their own cards too. Add the card in the app once and you both see the date it runs out.
Who can approve a new hire?
Managers, admins and owners can, once lessons and signing are done. You cannot approve yourself unless you are the owner.
I do not hold the company card. Can I try it?
Yes. The demo runs on sample data, so you can look before you ask. The owner starts the trial: 25 days free. Cancel anytime.
What is a Lead?
A Lead is a staff member who runs a shift when you are out. They are marked person in charge. They see who is on shift and can hand off the shift, but they do not get your manager tabs.
